What is gout?

Dr. Somsak Akkasilp, Director-General of the Department of Medical Services, revealed that gout is a ยูฟ่าเบท type of arthritis that results from having high uric acid levels in the blood for a long time. Symptoms of gout

Symptoms of gout can appear in many forms: arthritis, usually acute, initially affecting only one joint, most often occurring at the base of the big toe, ankle or knee, with pain, swelling, redness, heat, tenderness when pressed, and possibly fever. Some people find tophus. Which is caused by the accumulation of urate crystals in soft tissue, joints, bones and cartilage, often found in the elbow, ankle, fingers and toes. Urinary tract stones occur in approximately 10-25 percent of gout patients.

Dr. Anek Kanoksin, Director of the Chest Disease Institute, Department of Medical Services, added that gout treatment should use non-drug and drug-based methods. Which are more effective than using either method. 


6 Ways to Treat Gout Without Medication

Non-drug treatment can be done by modifying eating and drinking habits along with managing comorbidities and gout risk factors. 

  1. During an arthritis flare-up, choose protein sources such as eggs, tofu, milk, and low-fat dairy products. 
  2. Reduce your consumption of all types of meat, including foods high in purines, such as animal organs, fish eggs, and vegetable tops. 
  3. Reduce your intake of very sweet fruits, fruit juices and beverages containing fructose, such as ready-to-drink green tea. 
  4. Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages. 
  5. You should drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. 
  6. If you eat a certain type of food and experience arthritis symptoms, avoid that type of food to prevent arthritis.
